Madeleine McCann's parents have broken their silence and given their thoughts on the DNA test that revealed the woman claiming to be their daughter did not have British roots.

Julia Faustyna, 21, had repeatedly claimed to be the three-year-old who disappeared from an apartment in Portugal during a family holiday in 2007.after previously pointing out she had the same eye defect as Madeleine.

Madeleine's parents Kate and Gerry McCann have issued a brief statement after requests from media around the world for comment. “We have a lot of evidence right now that shows Julia was definitely trafficked to Poland from another country by an international sex trafficking group," she told RadarOnline.com last month prior to sending the DNA.

Dr Johansson took to Instagram to share a statement, claiming the story is"much more complicated" than a girl trying to get attention. "For us as a family it is obvious Julia is our daughter, granddaughter, sister, niece, cousin and step niece. We have memories, we have pictures,” they said.
