Abiyah Yasharahyalah's remains were found buried two years after his death
The parents of a neglected three-year-old boy have been found guilty of causing or allowing his death before secretly burying him in their garden.
On Thursday, December 5, the couple were found guilty of causing or allowing the death of a child, two counts of child cruelty and one charge of perverting the course of justice and sentencing was adjourned. Justice Mark Wall remanded them both into custody, saying: "The only form of sentence in reality is a custodial sentence."
He claimed Abiyah had said he wanted to go to the 'flying place' and the next time he woke up, his son had died. Tai-zamarai described his cultural ritual of 'eight rises' during which they hoped Abiyah would come back.
