It's an incredibly stressful time
The mother and father of three newborn babies say they feel "empty" after their home flooded and destroyed their ground floor just a week after the premature birth of their children. Scott Ford and Melissa Gunn, both 36, live in Sandiacre and have already had to deal with the trauma of a triple-pregnancy and the triplets' arrival 13 weeks early.
Triplets Hartley, Adley and Oakley, all boys, were born at 27 weeks on Saturday, October 14, after what Scott described as an "up and down" pregnancy. Melissa had been in hospital since a scan the previous Tuesday and, after the premature birth, expects to be there for another couple of months. By that point, having rang his best friend and father-in-law in the dead of night for assistance, Scott had managed to salvage some things; valuables, financial documents and family photos went upstairs and furniture was elevated on bricks. But it did little to help; some stuff couldn't be moved - particularly in the garage, where a television, garden tools, a lawnmower, clothes and a bike were left swimming.
