A London salon has been charging £2 extra to cut the hair of SEN kids and shocked parents have been sharing their anger online
A London barbers salon has caused outrage among parents for charging parents of children with special needs more for their hair cuts. A pricing board appeared at the salon – Netmums has chosen not name – with a separate higher price for ‘special needs boys.’Mum Leanne Caffrey spotted the price list in the unisex salon in Sutton when she took her children to get their hair cut, and posted a picture of the price list to Facebook.
‘However sometimes we do charge an additional £2 just help towards costs, due to length of time that it can take for me to cut hair as this can vary from child to adult but nothing to do with any disability and is communicated at the time. ‘A dismal excuse’ Despite the owner’s explanation, parents were unhappy with the apology, claiming the owner ‘knew what they were doing’ when they put up the sign.‘What a dismal excuse’ a third commented.‘I’m wondering if people who are outraged have children with additional needs or not tbh,’ one wrote.
