Swimmers Daniel Wiffen and Mona McSharry will be Ireland's flagbearers at the closing ceremony for the Paris Olympics on Sunday.He also competed in the open water marathon on Friday and said being selected for the closing ceremony is "a great privilege".

"I really can't wait, it's a dream come true for me," said Wiffen, who became the first athlete from Northern Ireland to win an Olympic gold medal in 36 years.The 23-year-old said she was "so shocked" to be selected and it was "an incredible way" to round out the Games. "I am so excited and grateful for this amazing opportunity to be one of the flagbearers for Ireland," she added.Gymnast Rhys McClenaghan, boxer Kellie Harrington and rowers Paul O'Donovan and Fintan McCarthy all added to Wiffen's gold medal.

McSharry and Wiffen also won bronze while rowers Philip Doyle and Daire Lynch took a third-place finish in the men's double sculls.
