On Sunday at 3:14 p.m. an excessive heat watch was issued by the National Weather Service valid from Wednesday 6 a.m. until Saturday 8 p.m. for Western Chester, Western Montgomery and Upper Bucks as well as Carbon, Monroe, Berks, Lehigh and Northampton counties.

"Dangerously hot conditions with heat index values of 100 to 105 degrees possible," explains the weather service. "A prolonged period of excessive heat with high temperatures in the 90s is expected through this week. The heat is forecast to worsen as the week goes on, with it peaking late in the week and into the weekend.

"Heat related illnesses increase significantly during extreme heat and high humidity events00," says the weather service.Dress for comfort:For outdoor workers, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends regular rest breaks in shaded or air-conditioned areas.In emergencies, call 911 for immediate assistance.
