Leeds United defender Pascal Struijk is set to return from a hamstring injury in time for the weekend's clash with Cardiff City. The Dutch center-back has been absent for three matches but could be involved if he manages the training load. Meanwhile, Max Wober is a major doubt due to a knee issue.

Pascal Struijk may participate in Leeds United's upcoming match against Cardiff City this weekend. The Dutch defender has missed the last three games due to a hamstring injury. Initially, manager Daniel Farke feared Struijk would be sidelined for several months, but scans revealed the damage to be less severe than anticipated. Struijk has been a key player for Leeds this season, making 26 appearances across all competitions.

During his absence, captain Ethan Ampadu has stepped in at center-back. Ampadu has impressed with several solid defensive displays, contributing to United's recent run of three consecutive clean sheets alongside fellow Wales international Joe Rodon. 'He has been back in team training since Tuesday,' Farke stated in a recent press conference. 'If he is able to handle the load in the next couple of days, he's definitely a topic for the squad.' Farke also confirmed that young talent Sam Chambers (knee) has recovered from his injury and is back in full training. Austrian international Max Wober (knee) remains a significant doubt for the match against Cardiff. 'We have had to manage Max Wober this week,' Farke explained. 'He was not able to train on Tuesday.' Striker Patrick Bamford (hamstring) is unlikely to feature this Saturday as Leeds aim to extend their unbeaten Championship streak to 12 matches.Turning to potential transfer activity before the January window closes, Farke expressed his reservations about the mid-season transfer market. 'I like to be transparent about the situation,' he said. 'I'm not a big friend of the January window. Options are always quite limited. If you're top of the league and are playing a really good season, it's difficult to improve the team. It could even be risky if you bring the wrong person because of the spirit we have. We will stay awake until the last hour of the window. We have a really good group. It is good enough to be top of the league after 29 games. It’s difficult to improve such a squad. I spoke quite open and honest about the positions we have a look. Then we need the right quality, character and is to be affordable. If not then we stick with what we’ve got. So far, not one option where all boxes ticked.
