A passenger's hand became trapped in the closing doors of an Elizabeth line train at Ealing Broadway station in London. The incident occurred shortly after midnight on November 24th, requiring the passenger to run alongside the train until a staff member freed them. The train, alerted by other passengers, stopped after traveling approximately 17 meters. The passenger sustained minor injuries. The Rail Accident Investigation Branch (RAIB) has launched an investigation into the incident.

The driver was alerted to what was happening by other rail users, and the train stopped after moving approximately 17m . The passenger reportedly suffered minor injuries. Among the issues the RAIB said it would consider are the actions of those involved and the arrangements in place to manage and control the risks associated with passengers getting on and off Elizabeth line trains.
This could include technology that can detect when thin objects, such as fingers, straps or clothing, become trapped in train doors, and detect when something is being dragged along by the departing train.
