Passengers on board a £395 luxury train were 'stranded' for two hours after a lorry hit a railway bridge during their journey. Two hundred guests were on board the Northern Belle, which has been dubbed the ' UK's poshest train ', when the accident led to a hold-up on their Christmas lunch trip.
Passengers were picked up from Lime Street at 12pm on Thursday, December 12 on a Christmas luxury lunch journey which was meant to stop off at Crewe and Chester before returning home just after 6.30pm. Pristine white linen and sparkling glassware adorned the tables of the stranded dining carriages, on board a train which was restored by specialist craftspeople, including muralists and mosaic artists.
