Celebrity chef Paul Hollywood, who is currently judging bakes on the latest season of The Great British Bake Off, has shared his go-to dessert for impressing guests at a low cost - a frasier cake, also known as strawberry shortcake.
Paul, who is one of the UK's leading artisan bakers, suggested buying the sponge if you don't want to make it from scratch. "Then whip up cream, fold in some strawberry purée, then put sponges on top of that." When putting the cake together you also need to put sliced strawberries on the bottom of the cake, which gives it its iconic appearance.
However, not everyone was convinced you'd be able to make the whole cake for £4. One person commented: "Where's he getting cream, strawberries, sugar, and two sponge cakes for £4?" Another agreed, saying: "£4? That MIGHT cover the cost of the strawberries."
