Donald Trump's former campaign chairman, Paul Manafort, has apologised for his crimes as he faces being jailed for up to 10 years.
Manafort, 69, is being sentenced in a court in Washington for two charges of conspiracy, which he admitted last year.
Before his punishment was handed down, Manafort apologised and pleaded not to be parted from his wife"longer than the 47 months" in prison imposed for tax fraud at a separate sentencing hearing last week. "Please let my wife and I be together," he asked US District Judge Amy Berman Jackson, who said she had received many letters supporting him. Manafort, 69, faced up to 10 additional years behind bars as part of special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation into ties between the Trump campaign and Russia.
