The Royal Mint unveiled a coin collection honoring Paul McCartney's career, featuring his iconic Magic Piano and other references to his record-breaking achievements. For the first time, a UK official coin features McCartney, who approved the design. Special editions include a plectrum-shaped coin made from sustainable gold.
Paul McCartney said 'it’s not anything I would have ever expected' as the Royal Mint unveiled a coin collection honouring his career. Launched today, December 6, the coin features Paul's iconic and psychedelic Magic Piano as well as several references to his record-breaking career - including piano notes personally chosen by him, a Höfner Violin Bass guitar and the Wings logo.

Rebecca Morgan, director of commemorative coin at The Royal Mint said: “Our coins recognise the greatest icons and events in British history, so it’s fitting that Paul McCartney’s remarkable music career is now celebrated on an official UK coin. What makes this coin extra special is that Paul has been involved throughout the design process.
