He said he wanted to thank his parents "who never said no" and then said of his mum amid her ongoing cancer treatment: "I hope you get better soon." Paul’s mother Dearbhla is currently undergoing treatment for Multiple myeloma, a type of bone marrow cancer that often affects several areas of the body, such as the spine, skull, pelvis and ribs.
"So I got this great honour of going to the men’s Wimbledon final. That was arriving in at half two. I came home and I had a scan after work on the Tuesday. On the Thursday, they had found lesions or tumours.” Paul explained that he struggled to accept that he has his hands on a real Oliver Award, saying: “I feel like I hear people say it all the time, but it doesn’t feel real!
