PC Adam Hoyle is currently on trial at Liverpool Crown Court and gave evidence from the witness box this afternoon

A Merseyside Police officer accused of "groping" an abuse victim in a police station has admitted having sex with two other women while on duty.

The third charge concerns his actions in late 2017 and March 2018, after the defendant attended another woman's home after she reported anti-social behaviour and a sexual assault by her partner. The officer later contacted her via phone and attended her address on "numerous occasions", later forming a sexual relationship with her - including having sex with her while he was on duty.

"I took those issues out on myself by drinking. I became not a pleasant person to be around - just short, withdrawn. But the PC stated that he had only ever attended this station with her in order to interview her in the presence of a colleague on one occasion and in relation to obtaining a non-molestation order against her former partner on another, and denied that any such contact had occurred during these visits. Hoyle said that on both occasions they had been situated in an "open" area off a main corridor in the building.

Of the second occasion, Hoyle said: "I believe it was two days later. She decided she wanted to go ahead with a non-molestation order. The "patrol officer" said he had then remained in touch with her in order to "support her through the process" of securing the restraining order. Hoyle stated that the contact had subsequently continued after it was granted so that she could "ask for advice".

Hoyle also denied having accessed force systems in relation to this woman other than for "legitimate purposes", claiming that he only done so after she had contacted him. He said of this: "That phone number came through to my device."Knowing she is a victim of domestic violence, knowing it's very difficult to engage her with police action, I've looked to see if there's anything I need to be aware of. It was to check that everything was above board.

However, no evidence was found of him having recorded further information on her case on these occasions. Hoyle was said to have gone on to "exploit her vulnerability" by kissing her and touching her on her breasts and bottom. He was then said to have used force systems to access information in relation to this same complainant on three dates in June and November 2019, which was "not for legitimate policing purposes". The defendant had no longer been involved in investigations relating to her complaint at these times.
