Peace shattered on a quiet Sunday afternoon after fight spirals into murder investigation
People living in a quiet south Manchester street had their peaceful Sunday afternoons shattered after a fight between two men spiralled into a murder investigation.
Greater Manchester Police confirmed that a 36-year-old man died after a 'fight' between two men, reported around 8.50pm. He died at the scene after being found with serious injuries. A 29-year-old has been arrested on suspicion of murder, police say.Residents of Rushmere Avenue, not far from Stockport Road with shops, schools, pubs, and community hubs amongst the rows of terraced houses, were left in a state of shock by the incident.
"We saw someone getting put in a police van very soon after but it became quite quiet after that. And we were not being told what was going on. "This is a lovely quiet street so you don’t expect things like this to happen. There's never trouble or anything like this on here. People mostly stayed in their houses at the time because I think we realised something quite serious had happened."
