The crash shut the motorway for more than five hours
Police are investigating the death of a man who was fatally injured by a livestock truck on the M1. Leicestershire Police was called to junction 21 on the motorway's southern carriageway following a crash involving a pedestrian and a LGV, which was carrying horses, at around 5.34pm on Sunday, December 1.
The carriageway was closed between junction 22 and 21 to allow for a full examination of the scene on Sunday, but has since been reopened. Detectives are now appealing for witnesses and dash cam footage of the incident, with officers explaining the LGV was a 'Rigid Daf' model.
