‘I was very scared,’ said Ms Pelosi, also 82, who was away in Washington DC at the time. ‘We didn’t even know where he was or what his condition was. We just knew there was an assault on him in our home.’ She said he deserves to be sidelined by the Republicans, often dubbed the Grand Old Party. ‘The GOP has done great things for our country and they should take pride in that instead of yielding to a cult, to a thug, actually,’ Ms Pelosi said.
It came amid rising fears of violence as voters headed to the polls for yesterday’s midterm elections that could curb Joe Biden’s power for the next two years.
