Penn State was ranked among the top teams in college football in the Associated Press preseason poll.
The preseason Associated Press top 25 poll has been revealed, and Penn State is considered one of the top teams in college football ahead of the 2024 season.In the overall AP poll, Penn State is ranked behind two Big Ten teams: No. 2 Ohio State and No. 3 Oregon. The Nittany Lions were ranked just ahead of Michigan . USC and Iowa were also ranked, bringing the Big Ten’s total to six teams. Of those teams, the only ones on Penn State’s schedule are USC and Ohio State .
As many expected, Georgia was voted No. 1 overall with 46 first-place votes out of a possible 62. Ohio State received 15 first-place votes. Oregon received one. Georgia, Ohio State, Oregon, Texas and Alabama made up the top five. Ole Miss and Notre Dame were ranked Nos. 6 and 7, respectively. Penn State closed the 2023 season ranked No. 13 in the AP poll. The Nittany Lions went 10-3 with losses to Ohio State, Michigan and Ole Miss in the Peach Bowl.
