Bernard Jones was intercepted driving the stash from Merseyside to south Wales for an organised crime group
A pensioner was caught with 12kg of cocaine concealed in a secret compartment in his van, a court was told. Bernard Jones, from Belle Vale , had previously dedicated his career to youth justice and youth work. However, he was apprehended while transporting the drugs, valued at £420,000, from Merseyside to South Wales on behalf of an organised crime group.
The plea was entered on the basis he thought he was only transporting one kilo of cocaine and he was to be paid £300 for the single round trip. The defendant had no previous convictions, reports Wales Online .
