The 67-year-old was hit by a motorbike while walking in Blackpool
A pensioner has died after being hit by a motorcycle while out walking. The man, 67, was pronounced dead at the scene after the crash in Blackpool yesterday afternoon.
The biker has now been arrested but police say they believe another vehicle was involved in the collision but fled the scene before emergency services arrived. Emergency services were called to the scene on St Walburgas Road around 5.55pm but the Blackpool man was tragically confirmed dead at the scene.
The motorcyclist, a 25-year-old man, was taken to hospital with injuries to his ribs before being arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. After initial investigation with CCTV enquiries police say they believe a second vehicle, possibly a BMW car, was involved in the incident and an appeal has been launched to help find this person.
“We are particularly keen to establish whether the motorcyclist and BMW car were racing before the collision and would encourage motorists to come forward and assist our enquiries. Furthermore, I would make a direct appeal to the BMW driver to contact police immediately.” Anyone with information can contact police on 101 or email [email protected] quoting log 1028 of November 11.
