A pensioner who lost two limbs in a dog attack is reunited with the neighbor who bravely fought off the animals, saving his life.
Vic Franklin, a 79-year-old pensioner, was brutally attacked by two Rottweilers in August 2023 near his home in Bognor Regis, West Sussex. The savage assault resulted in the amputation of his left leg, right arm, and left middle finger. Franklin's neighbor, Jim Jones, witnessed the horrifying attack from his window. Without hesitation, Jones rushed to Franklin's aid, bravely fighting off the dogs with a spirit level.
According to court testimony, Jones' quick action likely saved Franklin's life.Following the attack, Franklin spent several weeks in the hospital recovering. The ordeal left him physically and emotionally scarred. Remarkably, he and Jones have formed a strong bond, becoming friends and planning to enjoy a few pints together. Jones, deeply moved by Franklin's resilience, described him as a 'very, very strong man'. The owners of the dogs, Taylor and Matthew Roberts, were both charged and pleaded guilty to two counts of being in charge of a dog that caused injury while dangerously out of control in a public place. Roberts received a one-year suspended prison sentence and 100 hours of unpaid work.
