Pensioner who died in Lanarkshire crash involving two pedestrians named as Donald McKillop
A man who died in a crash on a Lanarkshire road has been named locally as 78-year-old Donald McKillop.
The crash occurred on Lesmahagow Road at around 7pm on January 3 in an accident involving a car and two male pedestrians, who were struck by the vehicle. Emergency services rushed to the scene shortly after.Police Scotland confirmed a 78-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene while a 67-year-old man was rushed by ambulance to University Hospital Wishaw. His condition remains unknown at this time.
"I ask that people respect the announcement and cease to speculate or comment until the Police release further information about the incident.Donald, who lived in Strathaven and was a former member of the RAF, was heavily involved in his community and well-known locally for his part in projects such as the Strathaven Gala Day and within the community council. He also helped with the creation of a statue of WWII military dog Rifleman Khan in the town.
