The council has apologised

Pensioners in Collyhurst are ‘frustrated’ after losing hot water to their sinks for eight weeks in their independent living centre.

One resident told the Manchester Evening News she pays £18 a week for hot water on top of a three-figure rent on the assisted-living pad. But instead, water that comes gushing out of the taps on her sink struggles to warm being 'tepid'.She has now resorted to boiling a kettle for hot water. The MEN has seen emails showing their complaint was acknowledged, but officials have admitted three weeks on, they still have not fixed the issue.

“It’s quite frustrating,” said resident Beryl Cook, 70. She has to pay £18 per week for her heating and hot water on top of her three-figure rental payment, but has had to resort to ‘boiling the kettle for hot water’. After the MEN contacted the council, they dispatched engineers to remedy the issue. However, thus far, they have been unsuccessful.“Thankfully hot water is available for bathing and showers, and general heating in the property is unaffected, but currently an ongoing issue means that hot water for the sinks isn't getting to temperature."
