People have been urged to 'avoid the area' and keep windows and doors shut
Firefighters are tackling a huge blaze near Blackpool seafront this evening. A derelict building, formerly the Strand Lodge hotel, went up in flames on Wilton Parade near to the North Promenade at around 5.38pm today, Monday January 27. Police have urged people to 'avoid the area' as multiple road closures are in place.
One person posted on social media: 'Please stay safe my family has been evacuated just glad they're safe.' Another said: 'Residents of neighbouring properties have been evacuated to the Imperial Hotel for the time being.' People living in the surrounding area have been urged to keep windows and doors shut.
