A number of energy-saving measures will be implemented in at least 100 homes
Wirral residents who are struggling to pay their bills will receive help from a pioneering health and housing service. The “trailblazing” initiative is set to mitigate the health effects of fuel poverty and extreme temperatures in homes. The service, funded by Wirral Council's Public Health team, will be implemented by Energy Projects Plus and aims to make a “significant difference” during its one-year pilot phase.
He said: 'The ongoing rise in energy prices and the continued cost of living crisis has led to a sustained increase in households struggling to afford heat and electricity.' 'Fuel poverty, which means being unable to heat your home to a safe and comfortable standard, can have a profound impact on health, particularly affecting elderly people, young children, and those with pre-existing conditions.
