Her early working life was spent in various local mills before later becoming a ledger clerk at the General Municipal Workers Union office in Accrington, from where she retired. Following her marriage to Bill in 1952, they lived in Haslingden before later moving to live in Baxenden, then Accrington. The family wish to thank the staff, and residents of Wellfield Home for the Elderly for the care, affection and friendship shown to Ruth.
Alice was blessed with many talents, skilled at dressmaking, knitting, cooking, gardening, painting and decorating. She would have a go at anything, really.
