Liverpool Council has increased spending to support those targeted by disturbances
Muslim, refugee and migrant communities have been “scared to leave their homes” in the aftermath of rioting and violence seen across Liverpool and the wider city region this summer. In the aftermath of the deaths of Bebe King, six, Elsie Dot Stancombe, seven, and Alice Da Silva Aguiar, nine, at a holiday club in July people took to the streets across the country, including County Road, Walton , and in Southport .
It said: “The recent violent disorder, racism and targeting of Muslim, refugee/migrant communities and refugee/migrant support organisations has caused fear for refugees themselves and those working with them. This fear has resulted in refugees and migrants scared to leave their homes and feeling that they do not belong, and some refugee support organisations have temporarily closed their services or are operating remotely.
