A number of passengers whose flights have been axed have reported seeing flights operating on the same day they were due to fly the same airlines they booked with on sale for higher prices
A British Airways passenger complained that their flights to Marseille had been axed by the airline but they had seen others available online for sale at around four times the fee they originally paid.
Mr Lavelle said: “Airlines such as BA and easyJet have looked to cut flights from destinations where they have multiple frequencies, so that they are not stopping flying to certain cities or holiday destinations, they are just not operating as many flights/day to these places. This allows them to still provide a service but just at a lower frequency.
Airline customers have been hit by wide-reaching disruption – everything from having flights cancelled after they’ve cleared airport security to arriving on holiday without their checked-in luggage, and the chaos is set to continue.
