Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola spoke about the club's response in remembering Sir Bobby Charlton
Pep Guardiola expects Manchester City will join Manchester United in paying their respects to Sir Bobby Charlton on Sunday.
Guardiola and John Stones led tributes from the club on Saturday following his death, although a small minority were reported by fellow fans for distasteful songs at half-time of the match against Brighton.
City fans have previous for proudly respecting the saddest days in United history, having observed an impeccable silence prior to the 2008 derby at Old Trafford to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Munich air disaster. And Guardiola expects that the Blues will honour Charlton with a minute's applause on Sunday when the two teams face each other for the first time since the FA Cup final.
"They don't represent us," he said of the two fans banned by the club. "Mike Summerbee going to Old Trafford to sign the book represents us. We have huge respect for Manchester United and especially the iconic figures like Sir Bobby Charlton. We prove it, losing or winning these years. "Tomorrow will be part of our condolences for the family, Manchester United and English football. We will be there."
