Manchester City fans want Pep Guardiola to stay forever and rival clubs want him gone as soon as possible. When will he call it a day?
Mikel Arteta has recorded a record number of wins for them in the history of the competition and they have blown away Liverpool in the title race but are still relying on a slip up from Manchester City. It's not just Manchester City they need to slip up, it is Pep Guardiola 's Manchester City.
The natural question for all to ask, then, is when will Guardiola leave? When will he give everyone else a chance and allow more margin for error to win the league? That has previously led to Guardiola entering the final year of his contract before deciding - the last two extensions have been around November - but it has also led to him deciding to stay, which is more important than any uncertainty from the absence of a decision before that. Whatever he decides, City know that he will give them time to find a successor because he wants to be a part in picking the next person in the hotseat.
Neither is the Premier League charges that City are facing, with Guardiola saying at the time he was more convinced than ever before to stay and fight for the club's name. The reasons cited for when he will leave are when he isn't having an impact on the players any more and when he no longer has the energy, and the way things are going it can only be the latter that is relevant.
