NSW Premier Dominic Perrottet has shut down the parliamentary term early, in a surprise move that ends all government business.

NSW Premier Dominic Perrottet has shut down the parliamentary term early, in a surprise move that ends all government business, including a local council probe under way in which his two brothers have been called in to give evidence.

This week, an inquiry probing the links between developers and the Liberal Party in the Hills Shire Council heard how a professional server has travelled more than 1900 kilometres to track down three Liberal party members, including the NSW premier’s brother, to give evidence.

The move to call time early on parliament echoes a similar move by then Labor premier Kristina Keneally in 2011, who enraged the Coalition by plunging parliament into caretaker mode ahead of time. Then Opposition leader Barry O’Farrell described it as a denial of democracy. The new office would upskill 5000 truckies and get another 2000 licensed for the first time and press ports to clear goods faster.
