Breaking: Person hit by a train as services cancelled between Lancaster and Carlisle - live updates
A person has sadly died after been hit by a train, leading to services being cancelled between Lancaster and Carlisle.
Emergency services are at the scene after reports of a person on the line, between the Lake District and Lancaster. British Transport Police confirmed that the casualty had been pronounced dead at the scene. An update on Avanti's website states: "Due to a person being hit by a train between Oxenholme Lake District and Lancaster all lines are blocked. Train services running through these stations may be cancelled or delayed by up to 120 minutes.
