A person has died after being found on a railway line. Police and paramedics were called to reports of a casualty on the tracks at Burnage station at around 9.30pm on Monday, January 20. 'Major travel disruption' was reported between between Manchester Piccadilly and Manchester Airport , with train services from Liverpool and Blackpool also suspended while emergency services responded to the incident, Lancs Live reports.
A police spokesperson said: “Officers were called to Burnage railway station at around 9.30pm last night following reports of a casualty on the tracks. Paramedics also attended, however sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene.
