British Transport Police responded to reports of a person being struck by a train near Eccles Railway Station in northwest England. The incident resulted in the cancellation of train services between Newton-Le-Willows and Manchester, as well as Liverpool Lime Street to Manchester Airport. All lines have since reopened.

A person has died after being hit by a train on the lines near Newton-Le-Willows. British Transport Police was called to reports a person had been hit by a train near Eccles Railway Station at around 4.15pm today . Police responded to the scene with the ambulance service and when they arrived found a casualty had been fatally injured, having been struck by a train. The death is not being treated as suspicious.
