A person was rescued from the sea in Blackpool after an early morning alarm. The incident occurred near Central Pier, prompting a swift response from RNLI Blackpool, police, paramedics, and coastguard resources. There was a large emergency services response in Blackpool after a person was pulled from the sea in the early hours. RNLI Blackpool said the alarm was raised shortly after 3am this morning (January 3) following reports of a person in the sea near Central Pier. Volunteer crews launched a lifeboat while police, paramedics and other coastguard resources rushed to the scene.

The person, who has not been identified, was located amid the 'crashing waves' and pulled from the water before being taken ashore. The volunteer crew provided immediate care at the lifeboat station before handing them into the care of North West Ambulance Service. The incident happened amid bitterly cold weather conditions overnight with temperatures on land plummeting to lows of -7C. No further details have been released on the condition of the casualty of if they were taken to hospital. In a statement, RNLI Blackpool said: 'At 3.02am this morning, volunteer Blackpool RNLI crews were paged due a person in the sea in the vicinity of Central Pier. Volunteer crews launched D Class Blackpool Endeavour in force 4 gusting 5 seas, making immediately to the scene. 'Lifeboat crew entered the sea in crashing waves from the lifeboat to secure the casualty and recover to the lifeboat. The volunteer crew provided immediate care and recovered to the Lifeboat Station, where the casualty was handed into the care of the North West Ambulance Service. 'The lifeboat was washed down and made ready for the next call. As happened yesterday, should you see anything of concern, call 999 and ask for the Coastguard.'
