The first real winter weather of the year has triggered a string of traffic accidents in recent days
A person has been taken to hospital following a crash sparking an urgent warning from police after temperatures plummeted across the region.
Police said the passenger of one of the vehicles sustained 'minor injuries' from the collision and was transported to Royal Blackburn for further treatment. One driver was with issued a traffic offence report as a result of the incident. Officers are now urging motorists to 'drive to the conditions of the roads' amid the bitterly cold temperatures. Further snow and winter weather is forecast to hit Lancashire between Wednesday and Saturday with mercury levels dropping below zero overnight is most areas.
