A man who slapped, kicked and sexually assaulted a young boy has been brought to justice. Police say Liam Tyrrell repeatedly targeted his victim.
The 29-year-old's hideous crimes came to light after his victim bravely told members of his family about what happened. The court heard how Tyrrell sexually assaulted the boy on a number of occasions, as well as slapping and kicking him. He also physically assaulted two other children. Police arrested Tyrrell, of St James Court, Buxton, but previously of Glossop.He was charged with two counts of sexual assault, three counts of cruelty to a person under 16 and one count of controlling and coercive behaviour. Tyrrell initially denied the offences but later pleaded guilty on the day of his trial at Minshull Street Crown Court.
He appeared at Bolton Crown Court for sentencing on November 7, where he was jailed for two years and nine months. He was also handed a Sexual Harm Prevention Order for 10 years, ordered to sign the sex offenders register and given a restraining order.
