Comedian Peter Kay removed three audience members from his Better Late Than Never... Again! show in Manchester for disrupting the performance. Kay stated that he felt it was no longer fair to the other attendees when hecklers persisted. The incident involved a fan repeatedly yelling 'garlic bread', a reference to one of Kay's routines, and another fan's enthusiastic proclamation of 'we love you'. Kay also commented on removing a female attendee whom he compared to Emmerdale actress Lisa Riley, clarifying that he didn't intend it as an insult. While some fans criticized Kay's actions, Lisa Riley herself stated she was not offended, and 'loves Peter Kay'.
Peter Kay has spoken out after ejecting three hecklers from his Better Late Than Never... Again! show in Manchester. The 51 year old comedian said the hecklers were spoiling the show for the rest of the attendees, claiming there comes a point where 'it's no longer fair' to the rest of the crowd.
One member of the crowd had persistently yelled "garlic bread," nodding to one of Peter's iconic punchlines, which resulted in the comedian having to call in security. Another fan's enthusiastic proclamation of "we love you" also prompted a request for their departure, and the comparison to Emmerdale star Lisa Riley seemed to only add fuel to the fire for some fans.
His decision to remove the hecklers irked a few fans, who called his actions "nasty and bitter", reports the Mirror. However, Lisa Riley has spoken out on the situation and reassured fans she was "never offended" by the joke and "loves Peter Kay". Phillip Peters, the man who yelled out 'garlic bread', spoke out after he and his son were removed from the venue. He told Mail Online: "I just can’t understand it, all I said was 'garlic bread'... I was there with my son and they dragged us out like ragged dolls."
