Peter Leven was handed the reins on an interim basis after Neil Warnock's departure in March and guided the Dons to six wins in 10 league matches.

Leven praised the Aberdeen squad and staff for the way they united and ended the season on a nine match unbeaten run in the league. Their only defeat in their last 10 games came on penalties to Celtic in the Scottish Cup semi-final. “That’s something that I have always prided myself on. I have one-to-ones and small groups and have that connection with the players. It is not just ‘I’m the manager and I need to speak to you’ - I have that connection. They know they can come to me with anything.
The majority of this Aberdeen team are still under contract and Leven believes they have the basis to kick on again even further next season under Thelin. The Swede signs off from Elfsborg and after a family holiday will start work at Pittodrie in the middle of next month.
