The Danish midfielder, who will turn 33 on Friday, is nearing the end of his contract with United and is anticipated to be released. He joined United on a free transfer in July 2022 after departing Brentford.Eriksen's game time has been significantly limited under Amorim, featuring in just five of the 13 Premier League matches overseen by the Portuguese manager. He has only been granted two starts during this period. Furthermore, his contributions to league football in 2025 have been minimal, clocking in at a mere ten minutes.As Eriksen's tenure at United appears to be drawing to a close, Schmeichel suggests a return to Ajax, Eriksen's former club, as a viable and logical next step in his career.
