A special documentary sees The Yorkshire Vet, Peter Wright, go behind the scenes of the Channel 5 hit series based on James Herriot's life.
All Creatures Great and Small is one of Channel 5's most successful shows in history and it was inspired by the life and times of renowned vet, James Herriot . A Christmas special is due to air later this month and viewers will get to go behind the scenes of the show as a one-off documentary airs.
Peter not only caught up with the likes of Nicholas Ralph and Rachel Shenton, he also stepped in front of the camera and appeared as an extra in the drama. Later in the show, Samuel West and Anna Madeley explore the real James Herriot's life and career. He qualified from the Univeristy of Liverpool in 1981 and worked at the real Skeldale House for many years. After working with the real James and Donald, he would enjoy telling the younger vets tales from his time with them.
Peter told The Yorkshire Post: "He had a huge amount of experience when I was a young, fresh graduate and in that situation I used to go to him for advice.Sharing his personal connection with James, he told Express.co.uk: "I was born in a village just outside of Thirsk in 1956 so he used to come to the farm where my father was a manager.
