The Department of Foreign Affairs said that the total number of repatriated Filipinos from conflict-torn Ukraine had reached 225 after the latest batch of repatriates arrived on Saturday, March 12.

Foreign Affairs Undersecretary Sarah Lou Arriola told ABS-CBN’s TeleRadyo on Sunday, March 13, that some 52 individuals arrived from Ukraine, which is now under attack by Russian invaders. Arriola also reported that some Filipino seafarers are still stranded in the eastern European country because of the conflict.

While the fighting has not reached the capital city of Kyiv, the DFA official appealed to Filipinos there to avail of the repatriation services offered by the Philippine government.“We are really appealing to them na sana lumikas na sila habang hindi pa kailangan talagang humingi ng humanitarian corridor,” Arriola added.
