MANILA – Nagdesisyon kamakailan ang Commission on Elections (Comelec) na suspendihin ang national and local elections (NLE) voter registration para sa mga Pilipino sa Israel dahil sa giyerang nagaganap sa pagitan ng Israeili forces at Hamas.
"Nag-desisyon na kanina ang en banc na sinuspend na po natin ang registration ng mga kababayan natin sa Israel, ayaw po nating i-sakripisyo ang kanilang buhay, ang kanilang safety,” sabi ni Comelec Chairperson George Erwin Garcia.
Dagdag ni Garcia, makakabuting huwag munang pumunta ang mga Pilipino sa Philippine Embassy para magparehistro bagkus manatili muna sa kani-kanilang bahay."Indefinite po iyong suspension na iyan, wala pa naman tayong pinag-iisipan kung mag-e-extend po tayo. Ang importante, protektado at nasa maayos na kalagayan iyong mga kababayan natin,” sabi ni Garcia.
Ang Israel ay nasa Alert Level 2 na ibig sabihin restricted na ang deployment ng mga Filipino workers, ayon sa Department of Foreign Affairs . Tatlong Pilipino na ang kumpirmadong namatay mula sa anim na napabalitang nawawala. Sa talaan ng DFA, may 25,000 Overseas Filipino Workers at turista ang nasa Israel nang muling sumiklab ang sigalot.
Para sa mga nagbabagang mga balita tungkol sa ating mga kababayan sa Europa, Gitnang Silangan at Africa.
