Ministers are reportedly planning to draft in pharmacists to ease the winter pressure on the NHS, which will worsen with strike action.

Ms Hannbeck said she had heard nothing about any plans, adding that the Government could not spring them upon the sector at the last minute. “Energy bills are going up, everything else is going up. And we’ve kept our doors open throughout the pandemic. We just cannot simply take on more and more without anyone helping with our costs. If they give us funding, we’ve always said we’re very happy to do everything we can do.”
