The Belgian boss is on the brink of becoming the club’s 19th permanent manager.
Record Sport understands that the Ibrox board have made their final decision on Michael Beale’s successor who will be unveiled this week - but the club’s hierarchy were staying tight-lipped on whether the Belgian boss or Yokohama F Marinos boss Kevin Muscat would land the vacant hot seat. An official unveiling is expected within the next 48 hours with the return of the Scottish Premiership just days away - as the Light Blues face Hibs.
And various reports now claim that former Club Brugge and Monaco boss Clement selected as the man for Rangers. Australian boss and former Ibrox midfielder Muscat has reportedly been "told he is no longer in the running" to replace Michael Beale and looks set to remain with the J-League champions barring a late twist in the tale. Rangers have been without a manager after Beale's 10 month spell came to an end.
Beale was sacked after a 3-1 Premiership defeat to Aberdeen, which saw them slip seven points behind rivals Celtic in the table. Club legend Steven Davis took over on an interim basis for two games - a 2-1 loss to Aris Limassol in the Europa League and a 3-0 league win over St Mirren.
