The Philippines opened its bid in the Under-15 Women's Softball World Cup 2023 with a close 3-2 win over Czechia on Saturday, October 21, at the Komazawa Olympic Park Sports Complex baseball stadium in Tokyo, Japan.

The Cebuana Lhuillier-backed team scored a run in each of the first two innings and added another in the fifth for a 3-0 lead.Czechia, however, rallied in the seventh and final inning but fell short from stealing the victory.Amateur Softball Association of the Philippines president Jean Henri Lhuillier commended the team's unwavering dedication and expressed his utmost confidence in their ability to bring honor to the nation.'It's a great start for Team Philippines.

Under the guidance of our coaches and managers, we believe that our girls will be able to show the world that they really mean business and come out on top again in their next matches,' he said.Filipino pitcher Erica Arnaiz, who finished the match with 14 strikeouts and four hits, was credited for the win.The team is led by team manager Michelle Ann Oblea, head coach Nina Serafico and delegation head Francis Carlos Diaz and is supported by the country's flag carrier, Philippine Airlines.
