Seven of the new COVID-19 cases are classified as severe or critical, higher than the three reported last week and the highest tally in three weeks, although it is also the 16th week of fewer than 10 severe or critical new cases reported.said there is a possibility that COVID-19 infections would again increaseA total of 79 additional verified COVID-19-related deaths were belatedly recorded by the DOH. These deaths were registered from August 2020 to January 2023.

Further, at least 73.7 million Filipinos, or 94.48% of the government’s target population are now fully vaccinated against COVID-19, according to DOH.There are also 21.1 million boosted individuals, of whom 24,698 were boosted in the same period. Data also showed that there were 507 severe and critical cases admitted in hospitals due to COVID-19 as of January 8. This was 9.3% of the total COVID-19 admissions, according to DOH.
