The former This Morning host is set to star in a new Channel 5 show
The former This Morning host quit his role at ITV in May last year after admitting to an 'unwise but not illegal' affair with a younger male colleague. At the time, the TV star said he had 'lost everything' after admitting to the affair, and that the fallout had had a 'catastrophic effect' on his mind.
In the programme he is set to film himself as he fends for himself while also reflecting on the turmoil of the scandal he was at the centre of. Speaking about his new role, a source told The Sun: "Over the past few months Phil has had quite a few offers for various things - but has steadfastly turned them all down.
"With 10 days to himself, no camera crews or production around, he shot some unbelievably raw footage - some of it makes for tough, emotional viewing. But he wanted a chance to share his story, unedited and honest, and let viewers see another side to him," they added. Captioning their upload, they penned: "A celebrity marooned on an uninhabited tropical island off the coast of Madagascar for 10 days is challenged with total isolation, the forces of nature, and the battle within their own mind."
