In a candid moment on his new show, Cast Away, the former This Morning host reflected on his past career highs and lows, saying he never expected his life to take this turn. He also clarified his stance on returning to familiar TV roles, stating that while he loves working in television, he won't be going back to sitting on a sofa again.
Phillip Schofield has gone public about his feelings after appearing on screen for the first time in 16 months, stressing he's not planning a career revival. During a heartfelt moment on his new show, Cast Away , the former This Morning host spoke candidly about his future and reflected on his past career highs and lows, saying: "You expect your life to follow a path? I honestly thought, you know. I'm going to die on live television, hopefully at 93. But then you know it.
These revelations might puzzle fans as many have assumed the island venture was a stepping stone back into television after he left ITV in May last year. His departure came after he confessed to an "unwise but not illegal" affair with a younger male colleague while hosting This Morning. He confessed that he "loved being there", reports the Mirror, saying: "When what happened to me happened to me, it screwed up my favourite building in the world, and it pretty well blew away all those happy memories, and suddenly the place became hostile to me, and that was heartbreaking. And the people who did it to me know, they know how important that building was to me.
Discussing his former colleagues without naming anyone, he said: "It is hard to come to terms with the fact that the people you thought you knew were not the people that you knew. They had completely different agendas."
