The Philippines has lifted the temporary import ban it slapped on poultry products from Denmark, Spain, and Czech Republic.

Dar said the risk of contracting bird flu from importing poultry meat, day-old chicks, eggs and even semen from the three European countries is now negligible. “All orders, rules and regulations or parts thereof which are inconsistent with the provisions of this order are hereby repealed or amended accordingly,” Dar said.

However, the import bans on European countries left the local meat processing industry scrambling for sources of mechanically deboned meat of poultry, a key raw material in manufacturing various products like hot dogs.
